Many, many, many moons ago, I used to collect figurines, hoarding enough to fill up 3 Ikea glass cabinets. Now that I’ve got a better set up for taking pictures, I’m going to slowly catalog my entire collection a bit at a time. My first post is one of my earliest purchases, which is KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.
KOS-MOS
1/7 scale
Alter
Released January 2006
Info
Stands without base?
KOS-MOS comes with a white rectangular base. She can stand without the included base, however it’s a delicate balance.
Warps under heat?
PVC Plastic has a tendency to warp over time when exposed to high temperatures.
Her legs have a tendency to warp over time and she’ll end up leaning a bit if her legs aren’t connected flat to the base. Alternatively you can display her without the base.
Prototype Comparison
The retail version of KOS-MOS has purplish translucent hair compared to the blue of the prototype. While the rest of the figure is pretty accurate, I find on the retail one is slightly more derpy and plastic like as well.
Overall I wish they kept the hair of the original but still a beautiful figure nonetheless.
This is truly a beautiful figure and I’m truly jealous of it.
I also look forward to this new series of posts. Hope your collection has some more gems like this one
